  • Teddy Bear Picnic

    Teddy Bear Picnic

On Wednesday 11th July, we had the privilege of visiting Cecil Gowing Infant School. We planned for them to have a magical teddy bears’ picnic.

We really enjoyed spending time with the children, getting to know them and sharing the lovely experience with them. We really did enjoy planning this event for the children and were so impressed with their manners and kindness towards us and each other.

Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

  • La Fosca Water Sports Trip:

We took 29 students from Years 8, 9 & 10 to Spain for a water sports trip during the May half-term.  The fantastic trip took in activities such as paddle boarding, kayaking, pico sailing, wind surfing, snorkling among others.  It also included a day trip to Barcelona and the whole week was a great success.

The company in charge of the trip commended our students on their attitude in a testing week.  We are investigating going on a similar trip in the summer of 2019.

  • Harry Potter Studios Review

On Thursday the 6th of July 90 Years 9 and 10 Media Studies and Design Technology students went to the Warner Brothers Harry Potter Studios.

The students got to experience the magic behind the movies and see where the franchise really began and discovered how the set and props were created. They also got a chance to see the original costumes and marvel at the creature workshop. Some students also made the most of the CGI and special effects experiences on offer, such as flying a broomstick in front of a green screen or having a drink with Hagrid in the optical illusion exhibit.

  • Year 10 ATL...Ate The Lot!...

    DSCF0684 350

One thing that has remained consistent for the current Year 10 cohort has been their great attitude as seen in their respective ATL grades!

Time and time again, the year group has consistently achieved inspirational ATL grades, It was therefore wonderful to see that over this past term, an even greater number of them have made their way in to the group achieving an average of 3.5 or higher.

    DSCF0685 350

I took the chance to meet with all 30 of these students and provided them with a pastry breakfast by way of saying thank you for their effort, diligence and hard work.

Well done Year 10!, Mr Bidle

  • Y10 High Flyers

    DSCF0676 350

A change is in the air....as of 2016, the systems in place to measure the performance of students in English Schools has changed. The traditional grading systems of A*- G are being phased out and being replace with a 9-1 grading scale while the traditional 5 A*-C measurements are being replaced with Attainment 8 and Progress 8 scores.

Over the coming months as the students become more familiar with these new systems, I will be championing those students showing outstanding levels of progress under the new system. This photo shows the highest flying students, who I had the pleasure of meeting with and congratulating.

  • Eggcellent Attitudes in Year 10!

Sorry to start with such a dreadful pun, but today I had the pleasure of awarding our most impressive Year 10 students with an Easter Egg.  21 Year 10 students have achieved an average ATL grade of 3.5 or higher on their most recent report and it was great to be able to show recognition of this and thank them for their work.  Special mention needs to go to Natasha Leversley and Michael Walker for achieving the very highest grades.
