The Maths area is found in the AB Block. Maths forms part of the core curriculum at both KS3 and KS4, with groups organised into sets in all year groups. Students can elect to study Maths or Further Maths as post-16 courses.
Students will be expected to:
Maths follows the Edexcel exam board course (1MA1)
Lessons will focus on conceptual understanding of the key topics, problem solving and frequent opportunities to develop calculation skills. Students are expected to take some responsibility for their own progress and show resilience and perseverance when tackling problems.
Students should be appropriately equipped for lessons, which includes a scientific calculator (mobile phones are not allowed for general use in the classroom).
All equipment can be purchased on the maths corridor.
A revision guide is also a very useful support to learning and revision at KS4. Students can purchase one from the maths department at any time and will receive the revision guide itself and/or a workbook. The school subscribes to MyMaths, a valuable online resource, which provides lessons and homework on all the required topics. We are also using the new PiXL maths app with graded questions to aid progression and improvements, individual to each student.Maths KS4 Curriculum Map
