We will be holding a week of assemblies dedicated to options in the Sixth Form for Year 11 students during the week of Monday 30th October - Friday 3rd November

Taster Day will give Year 11 the opportunity to live life as a Sixth Form student for the day and also the chance to sample taster lessons in a variety of subjects. It will be held on Thursday 30th November 2017 8.55-3.25. It is non uniform for those taking part and Year 11 lessons will run as normal for those who are not participating.

In 1989, the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme recommended that 11 July be observed by the international community as World Population Day, a day to focus attention on the urgency and importance of population issues. This year's theme is “Family Planning: Empowering People, Developing Nations.”

Access to safe, voluntary family planning is a human right. It is also central to gender equality and women’s empowerment, and is a key factor in reducing poverty.

Yet around the world, some 214 million women in developing countries who want to avoid pregnancy are not using safe and effective family planning methods, for reasons ranging from lack of access to information or services to lack of support from their partners or communities. Many of those with an unmet demand for contraceptives live in the poorest countries on earth.

Investments in making family planning available also yields economic and other gains that can propel development forward.

Walk to school week 15-19 May 2017

Join thousands of children across the country celebrating the benefits walking brings.

We know that walking to school makes children feel healthier and happier, while reducing congestion and pollution outside the school gates. Yet less than half of primary school children currently walk to school.

We want to reverse this decline and see every child that can, walk to school.

Good mental health is more than the absence of a mental health problem. This Mental Health Awareness Week, we are going to look at mental health from a new angle. Rather than ask why so many people are living with mental health problems, we will seek to uncover why too few of us are thriving with good mental health.

Accidents are the biggest killer of children and young people.

Every week at least one child under five is killed because of an accident, with disadvantaged children most at risk.

Yet it doesn't have to be like this.

Family Safety Week 2017 focuses on protecting some of the most vulnerable members of our community — babies, toddlers and children under five.

Whether you're a parent or carer, a grandparent, a health visitor, a nursery nurse, or a company director, we've got stacks of facts, tips, advice and resources to help you keep under-fives safe at home and on the move. Click on the links below to get involved.

Malaria prevention: let’s close the gap

24 April 2017 – On World Malaria Day, WHO is calling for closing gaps in coverage of lifesaving malaria prevention tools. While these tools have played a pivotal role in reducing malaria cases and deaths, they are still not available to many who need them. An estimated 43% of people at risk of malaria in sub-Saharan Africa do not have access to an insecticide-treated net or indoor residual spraying of insecticides.
