Welcome back to a very important term for us all in Year 9. For the first time ever you have the opportunity to shape your education, chose some of the subjects you study in years 10 and 11 and make a real difference to your future.

As a year group you have come a long way since the start of year 8, and as a whole you are making great progress across the curriculum. There is still a lot to be done, and you know the basics are so important, now and always. The options process starts very soon, so there are some important things for us to remember.

  • Talk to your teachers – they are best placed to explain to you what GCSEs are like, specifically in their subject area.
  • Think about your own interests and what you enjoy – you will be doing it for 2 years!
  • Think about your skills and how you work best, does the subject require lots of coursework, how many exams does it have; is it a practical subject and so on?
  • Make sure you read the information we give you and attend the information evening with your parents/carers.
  • There is lots of help and support in place for you - please try not to get worried about it, at Sprowston we have lots on offer.

Good luck and keep up the hard work Year 9.
