Welcome to the Summer Term. This is an important term for many reasons. A particular mention must go to all students sitting exams this term. Please know that we are thinking of you and you have our total support- let us know if there is anything you need or anything at all that we can do to help in these last stages.
It is also a time of transition. We are so looking forward to meeting the 280 students joining us in Y7 next year. We are delighted to be full in this year group and can't wait to prove to you why you have made a great choice in coming to Sprowston Community Academy. At the same time, we are preparing our Y9 students to become GCSE students and our Y11/Y13 students to take their next steps to adulthood.
We are really proud of our Academy and the all the people in it- our fantastic students, teaching staff and support staff. It is a real team effort and we are looking forward to this final term of 2018/19. We set ourselves the target of being the best version of Sprowston that we could possibly be and we are determined to end the year on a high.

Learning about different countries and their cultures is always fun. Currently, Year 8 are working on a topic relating to Kenya. In this topic we learn about weather and climate, tourism and development issues.
This week we have asked some Year 8 classes to produce a creative 3D map of Kenya to help them learn about this distant place but also to help improve their locational knowledge.
What students have produced has been great. These are just a few samples. Prizes were given out for the teams that worked the best together and for the most informative maps.
Thank you to all the parents, carers and guardians of Year 11 students who filled in the parent view questionnaire at the last parents' evening, the responses of which can be on the Parent View page.
We would like to share some important information regarding the support offered to the Year 11 students following Tuesday’s assembly (PDF below), as well as an outline of the revision and preparation for each subject; designed to maximise individual success.
Firstly, with this article please find a PDF outline of the GCSE revision sessions taking place at lunchtimes and after school (3.30-4.30pm). The programme runs from January through to the May half term. These sessions are to support the revision and preparation that the Year 11 students will be completing at home. Some pupils will be specifically advised to attend certain sessions based on their tracking data and Mock exam results. It is crucial that they attend these, as subject teachers will have specifically highlighted areas to work on and improve, prior to the final exams.
Here at Sprowston we offer a range of extra curricular sports clubs.
Clubs are all free of charge (except the cheerleading, that is done through an outside coach). Go to the changing rooms either at lunch time or straight after school to get changed and then head straight to the venue of the club.
Anyone can just turn up to any club.
If you need anymore information on any sporting club, see a member of the PE team.
This year (as usual) many books are being turned into movies and adapted for television.
Challenge yourself to read some of the books before you see the film in the cinemas or on the television.
Come to reading group on Wednesday lunchtimes in the library to share your thoughts and hear other people’s. You don’t even have to have read the whole book to attend!
The Geography department is offering a series of revision sessions to help you prepare for mocks.
Please see the attached documents for details regarding the dates, times and topics being covered.
The next few weeks on the run up to Christmas are very important as for the first time ever you have the opportunity to shape your education, choosing some of the subjects you will study in years 10 and 11.
As a year group you are making great progress across the curriculum, but there is still a lot to be done between now and the end of Year 9 so keep up the good work.
On Wednesday Miss Woolton took four year 12 students to compete the Senior Team Maths Challenge at CNS. The boys came 9th overall and did the school proud.
The boys were: Michael, George, Terence and Ashley

Here at Sprowston Community Academy we have so much to offer and celebrate within the school. We post a number of articles on the school website but there is a wealth of information to be found in our numerous twitter feeds. Below we have listed the individual accounts and link to them.
