#year 7

  • I met with Georgia W, Ellie C and Harrison M this morning to give them Awards certificates and Amazon vouchers as a thank you for their fantastic speeches on the Year 6 Open Evening.

They performed so well and gave such a great account of their start at Sprowston Community High School. What a talented trio they are!

    Mr Setchell

  • It was good to meet with two Year 7 super-stars this morning: Asim Miah and Evie Dickerson have both gained over 10 achievement points already this term - a fantastic effort, well done!

7LE are racing ahead with a whopping 119 achievement points so far - can any other form catch them....?

  • I met with the Year 7 students who have already been awarded six achievement points or more this term.

This is an outstanding effort and shows what a great start these students have made to their time at our school. Well done!

    Mr Setchell

  • Looking back on the end of term awards assembly for Year 7, in which we celebrated the numerous achievements of the year group, and tutors and subject teachers nominated students for their efforts and attainment during the year.

We were also lucky enough to witness some fantastic entertainment as Lauren, Rebecca, Megan, Elsie, Anya, Chloe-Jayne and Charlotte performed some songs for us. An extremely talented group of singers.

Well done to last year's Year 7s, and good luck in Year 8. You made a great start to your time at Sprowston Community High School!

  • Congratulations to Year 7 mathematician Harriet for qualifying for the Pink Kangaroo award in the UKMT Maths Challenge.

Who knows what she could achieve next year!

  • Last week Ms Humpleby invited me to a Year 7 Art lesson to see some of the homework that students had completed. The work on display was fantastic and showed that a lot of time and effort had gone into planning and creating some outstanding pieces. Really impressed!

UKMT Junior Maths Challenge certificate winners from Year 7 and 8 were awarded their certificates this week.

Well done to all of them! Special congratulations to Stanley M from Year 8 (Gold Certificate and Best in Year) and Harriet K from Year 7 (Gold Certificate and Best in School) Harriet also qualified for the next round of the competition: The Pink Kangaroo. We await her results with anticipation.

  • Congratulations to all of the students from Y7 to Y10 who have successfully completed phonics programmes this year. We have seen all of the students engaging really positively and as a result students have made significant progress in reading and spelling scores. Special thanks to Mrs Richardson for running these interventions and organising the celebration party- it was a bit hot for cake but we managed it anyway!

Some of our Year 7 students had the chance this week to venture out on to the school field as part of their Geography lesson. Linked to the topic the Coasts, the students were tasked with the creation of a sand model that accurately illustrates how coastal process around the UK can lead to the creation of Caves, Arches, Stacks, Stumps. A great way to get a challenging concept across.

I wanted to say a huge well-done to Arwen Stewart in Year 7. Arwen recently took part in the European Karate Championships in Hungary. She is obviously an extremely talented martial artist as she won gold in the team kata, gold in the team kumite and silver in individual kata. What an incredible achievement!

It was great to meet with the Year 7s who had been nominated by their tutors to receive an award (and Easter egg!). Tutors gave a variety of positive reasons and recommendations for these students.

I am really impressed with their attitude and the way they are conducting themselves in Year 7.

  • Mr Setchell and Mrs Wind-Avery welcomed 40 Year 6 students from Sprowston Junior School and Falcon Junior School.

Year 6 students arrived and came prepared with knowledge of vocabulary in one of the three languages French, German or Spanish.

  • We have had a fantastic day today welcoming students from Sprowston Jr, Falcon Jr and Frettenham to take part in several transition to High School events.

Year 6s from Sprowston and Falcon Jr took part in our 'MFL' breakfast, run by some of our top Year 7 linguists. It was great fun and we look forward to hosting another one in the future.

  • This morning I met with those students in Year 7 who have achieved a Silver Certificate for Achievement Points.

This means that they have already been awarded over 30 Achievement Points from their subject teachers for a number of positive reasons. I am really impressed with these young students and their attitude.

  • What a game!! Year 7s have continued their unbeaten run winning 5-2 against Norwich High. Everyone was AMAZING #Hardwork #OneProudTeacher
