Well done and keep up these excellent standards

England B team SPLT1935

I travelled across to Drachten in the Netherlands on Wednesday 27th June. I left Norwich at 6am and travelled by coach and ferry, arriving at 10pm. We camped outside the sportshall in tents and slept on army beds which I found reasonably comfortable!

Thursday consisted of the official opening ceremony where teams were in two minds whether to run onto the pitch or walk when their names were announced. England walked on whereas Catalonia ran on. Afterwards, all the countries took part in a joint training session which was led by an experienced Netherlands coach who taught us some important skills needed to play Korfball.

The Art and Photography departments are asking for donations of the following to be used in projects next year
  • newspapers
  • wallpaper lengths (not scrapings)
  • cardboard tubes
  • fabric offcuts and lengths
  • old photographs
  • old slides
  • interesting papers such as old magazines, wrapping papers, craft or music papers
thank you very much for any donations; please send them to Ms Humpleby in WG12

What is it all about?

This summer, your challenge is to read a book – or several books – that you really enjoy.

Reading is an amazing way to spend some of the summer holiday – it can be relaxing, satisfying, rewarding (and it’s great for your ability to learn).

What do I do?

In this downloadable booklet, write down the books that you are challenging yourself to read. You can also pick up a copy of the booklet from the library.

Share this information with your parents – they might even be interested in reading with you, or even sponsoring you.

When you come back to school, hand in your booklet to the school library – and join in the Autumn book groups if you like.

Happy reading!

Mr Jones

How many teams from the 2018 World Cup can you name from their flags? Have a go and see how many you get right. Talk to your Geography teacher about your score. Good luck!

  • More than 100,000 people suffer a stroke every year in the UK. That’s about one every 5 minutes.
  • Strokes are the fourth largest cause of death in the UK.
  • As such, on Friday 25th May we’re asking pupils and staff to show your support by wearing non-uniform clothing, ideally purple to fund life-saving research to support the Stroke Association.
  • A £1 donation per pupil will be made to help raise money for this excellent cause.
  • If you or your friends wish to do anything additional to help raise more money next week then speak with Mr Sayce in WS14
